Think recycled plastic product ...
And Get your LED product Truly
Green
Using
recycled plastic product components with LED lights is important if you
need them for energy saving and ecological protection.
Most of us think
least of this, but it becomes critically important.
Here I give you some ideas for the WHY and HOW.
WHY?
True, currently operational or use-phase energy consumption
is the bigger problem, and a figure about 80% of all energy use has
been cited. But with operating LED lights around you you have solved
that as you cut your protion of emission about one ninth. The immediate
next problem is embodied energy and recycling.
And with that very
effective energy saving with LED, recyclibility of the plastic your
product uses suddenly becomes over 90% of your problem.
In other words wasteful
plastic production methods can offset the energy saving you want to
help the environment by a factor of ten.
So sooner, rather than later you'll be looking for more ecologically
sustainable LEDs, and that's when all kinds of recycled plastic
products and clever components come into play.
“To
really make your choice green a LED product will use
green plastic
too.
LED is encased in plasitc resin. And plastic production is very
wasteful because oil residue is used and oil production is dwindling.
Green is a plastic package that has been recycled and so it has not
used extra oil. Simple.
Also, very short-term plastic packaging, often account for more cost
and energy, and consequential environmental damage, than the products
they wrap or contain. So if your product is relatively small to the
package, and that package (including plastic bags) is not recycled you
will do more harm than good.

Tips for LED
light Package parts For Recycled plastic Product Component
These days
we all search for eco-labels to find products that have passed a
rigorous objective third party certification process. Not just
ad hoc claims stated by manufacturers or distributor on the packaging.
To
be sure, eco-labelling is not yet a standard. So naturally, LED
lights are not yet eco-labelled. At least that is what I find when
asking around manufacturers.
That is why I jumped on the Web and look
for LED
products with recycled plastics. Here is what I am finding so far.
Links to official sites all open in new window, so make sure you have
pop-up enabled.
Footbags
and Glow Balls

NightHack footbags are lighted with LED and
stuffed with recycled
plastic beads.

Jugglo
is a juggling glow ball where the
soft
shell is surrounded with
recycled plastic beads. It said to have a battery lit
on/off LED light
module inside.

Street
lamps and Lamp Shades
Here is an ingenious street light
prototype designed for third world countries with very limited
resources.
The design makes unusual use of recycled plastic product (plastic bag)
for armature, and fast
growing
bamboo for a sturdy frame that can be placed effectively as high as
needed.
The light source of course is LED light. With the bamboo frame this is
some cool eco-design!
As far as I know, it is commercially not avaliable. But really, the
point is that it should be set up anywhere with little resources.
Total
cost? -- 2 dollars all up.

Another neat idea is to pair a LED lamp with a recycled plastic lamp
shade.

Sturdy
Outdoor Lights -- Made With Recycled Plastic product

These
products are also made from green plastic.
This one is a durable path light designed to withstand extreme
environments while needing very little maintenance. The ultra bright
LED encased in recycled plastic may seem not much, but it is said to
comfortably illuminate your
path, walkway or trail.

This
LED brick light is a post light. It is
housed in recycled plastic
product (plastic brick) and the base is wood. It is said
to be good for AC and DC power and is
to mounted on top of your posts in the garden.
