How much you save on the Bulb:

You spend a bit more on one bulb, but consider that it saves the cost of 60 bulbs replaced one after another - if it will las that long.

Now bulbs with good heat sinks are designed to last.

“Power prices WILL go up. In the same time LED prices will go down. That means that the longer you use your LED bulb the shorter it is the break-even on your investment.

Suppose you replace just one incandescent light with a LED bulb, and suppose you do this for just a few months. You will be pocketing handsome savings. -- First, on the costs for powering them, but ALSO on the costs of the replacement bulbs you save.

If you are interested in the figures I have calculated that in detail. But here is the bottom line:

The break even time for a $35 LED bulb compared to a 67-cent incandescent globe is just below 7.5 months. After that period what you also get is profit on your investment for as long as your LED bulb lasts. And this goes to other things too.

That's why you need to buy a brand that is tried and proved that your choice will last long enough.

Now, a good quality bright LED bulb should last 7-11 years give or take, depending on use. And a well-reviewed model of a name-brand is a sensible guarantee for long work-life and good performance.
