This inspiration story board has a collection of inspirational thoughts, stories and videos that may have the capacity to recursively inform and perhaps motive toward novel LED lighted solutions.

What is an inspiration story?

It is a a powerful motivator that moves you to change ways by revealing the reward of new perspectives.

So why not jump straight int a picture - literally - to get a sense of a new persective from within.

New Perspectives from Within

In the Renesseance, when persective was invented it was considered an art form, not just a mere technique. It made you become part of the vision by relaxing to enjoy the depth of view from up close - one which would require a lot of eye motion and distance focus adjustment in real life.

Perspectives and what they can do to your senses can refresh even well known inspirations and inspiration stories. Let's have this visually demonstrated a little video clip I selected from youtube. A procession of still visions unfolding, while hidden perspectives being revealed creates a powerful inspiration source and a framework to new inspiration stories indeed.

Think about it: - enigmatic images emblazoned in your mind suddenly come to not just new life, but they seem to acquire a whole new meaning.

For the how: - It appears that a compositing software - may be After Effect? - automatically selected the pictures into layers. Then another software virtualised it with a fake perspective using a virtual 3D camera. Or use Photoshop layers with Premiere, which however, I have no concept of how. Either way, the effect is priceless ...

New associations, connections. Indeed, new inspirations. I find it a powerful visual framework that can inform or illustrate new inspiration stories.

With that out of the way I am sure your grip on everyday reality loosened a bit. I find that necessary for a true inspiration story board to emerge.

A master of Subtle Light and Humour appears on Strand TV

The best inspiration story board is the story of stories. Here, humour light and timing can add a great deal of excitement and delight. But more than that, they draw your focus by making you not just the recipient but also part of the story.

For LED light product design it should be no different and in this respect I find a great story-teller cartoonist refreshingly inspirational.

What you get is phenomenal humor and a great insight into the creative process of daring imagery. I love the monkey who shot the footage of the Waterloo battle. ... (Indeed, even science and development can become too narrowly focussed and self-referential if an excitement of discory is lost.)

And that a meaningless book you tossed around for years suddenly becomes something special once you finished it cover to cover.

There are just too many great moments in this kaleidoscope of true inspiration stories of that arch creative kind.

Some say in the book that she is promoting called WHAT IT IS the attention for detail mixed with this special eye for humor is second to none.

broadening Hidden Perspectives...

Inspires Emergent Views to Unfold

Scientists say that complex things have important key properties that are not contained in a specific part or parts. Instead they exist at a higher level of describing the whole, and are called emergent properties.


Pealing away OR changing the viewpoint in a story -- I find the second so called heuristic method more inspirational. (Other possible placements with relevance: product rules, fun corner etc ...)

The two ways to approach a product design then is to peel away at a system layer by layer either shifting from context to content and back; or changing the view of the system.

This way you would open up your perspective to reveal more and more. Much like going away from a tree may reveal a forest. May be not, but you have to go away to verify ...

Or going backwards, but this time going into the abstraction of the system. Good example would be the picture of the forest, that is the image of it impressed upon your mind -- like the painter in the Chinese legend enters his own inspiration story by stepping into his own painting and leisurely waling down the path of his own brushwork.

Now, what you can DO with LEDs makes them quite complex, actually. And that on an inspirational level leaves us in search of some elusive emergent properties.

In fact, after learning a great deal about them, I am convinced, that even useful and relevant information on fun-led-light will come not as much from the singular pages as it will come from the sections that tie them together. But to make that work is quite tricky and needs a lot of going back and forth.

This site then is trying to reveal that 'forest of LED lights' to make it more easy to navigate.

Light As A Multi-dimensional inspiration Story

Now, for those of you who asked about the 'philosophy' behind fun-led-light -- the name and the meaning in particular ... I thought about that long and hard. ... Then, I happened upon the best inspiration story I could think of. It was out there: - I walked out onto the deck one starry night and that was it. So, you will know exactly what I mean, if ...

This evening, tonight, you too look up the clear sky - I just did then - it's awesome! If you lucky you will see a shooting star... I actually DID just that! Those stars will be there long after you and I are gone.

That is why I want to help entrench sustainability at the dawn of intelligent lighting starting with LED... There are things bigger then you and me.

In the multi-dimensional world of light anything happening to anyone, anywhere - here and now - CAN happen simultaneously anywhere else to anyone else - and that includes you and me. Now THAT is awasome. That connectedness coming from the very nature of light is perhaps the source of all inspiration stories! ...

Inspiration Stories Are in Video Series

What inspires me most is exceptional, breaking-the-mold positive thought leadership by action. I like inspiration stories leading to successes; stories that are acted out as well as acted upon. For the same reason I am not high on being academic for the sake of being academic; talk instead of act is not overly amusing.

That said, the other day I was over to the TED website. Which it says is about "Inspired talks by the world's greatest thinkers and doers."

I put the emphasis on the latter. And the real good thing I find about the site is that it catalogues all notable presentations on downloadable VIDEOS! Pictures tell the story so much quicker, and leave impressions so much deeper...

Inspired by Light

The Role Light Plays in all Inspiration Stories

There have been volumes if not libraries written about this theme. The subject is so enourmous it is not even funny.;-) Thinkers and scientists kept writing new and new chapters following new and new discoveries. It makes the mind boggle. My take on it then is a mere personal angle.

What I find the core inspiration story of light is not it's unimaginable speed - believed to be the fastest of all that is. (I happen to believe that there are things much faster then light.)

But it is the quality of light - much like love - that is the linkage between dimensional worlds otherwise hoplessly disconnected. To me the quality of light, not it's physical substance is the greatest connector there is.

And the spatial dimension - in which light sits pretty - is the magical middle kingdom of the physical 9+1 dimensions there are ALL up. Not surprisingly that central dimension reflects for me the 4 dimensions above and 4 dimensions below. To me it is light that gives the insight into the ultimate connectedness of all dimensions, in particular the 1st and the 10th.

Inspired by LED Light

Aristotle compared God with a perfect crystal, glowing with light, the Giver of life. If we contemplate the glowing crystal that is LED light then, there may not be a single avenue of secular life that is not to be touched profoundly by LED or OLED light.

Summary

Light and what can be achieve with it in the metaphoric and spiritual sense informs our mind deeply and profoundly. The dynamism that LED light brings to the now impassive conventional light scene should then inform a new, iterative and recursive inspiration story.

This is why luminaries and new perspectives keep opening new possibilities that can inform our search for novel and elegant LED lighted solutions in the most unexpected places.
